AN EXTRA MILE OF SATISFACTION
Intro:
We can have our cake from the Lord, sometimes with icing. This is when we go the extra mile. Jesus said you will have what you ask for. But, do you know you can actually have more than you ask for, from Him? I will show you a lady and a man, who received more than their expectations.
Message:
I Samuel 1 & 2, and Luke 17: 12 - 19
10 lepers asked for healing; only one was made whole. Hannah was diligent and cheerful in giving -in performing her part of her vow to God. She only needed to be faithful to her vow. But because they added some extras, they received extra benefits from our God who is a just God.
1. They asked
They lifted up their voices as they shouted to the Lord. Hannah cried her heart out. (Matthew 7:7)
2. They trusted
The lepers’ obedience showed their faith. While, Hannah’s is seen in demeanour –she ceased from struggling (relaxed, ate & pleasant countenance) –the Lord shall fight for you and you shall hold your peace (Exodus 14:14, Psalm 55:22)
3. Their faith was confirmed –God showed up according to John 14: 13 – 14, and they received. Many of us stop at this third stage. Yet, we wonder why will serve the same God, do the same job, but the other person seem to be enjoying more.
4. The extra mile
One leper came back with thanksgiving and rejoicing –beyond all the others. Remember Hannah’s was a vow. So, she took diligent care to prepare her offering –unlike the cursed sacrifices in Malachi 1: 13 – 14 (are you glad to offer, do you dance & rejoice at the opportunity to offer?)
She fulfilled her vow, diligently. Then, went beyond the terms of the vow (call of duty) and offered other sacrifices not in the agreement (verse 24).
Hebrews 11:6b The Rewarder of diligence saw their extra efforts and acknowledged it in the way that only He could do –even without them asking for it. His reward is with Him to distribute according to the manifestation of our hearts (Deuteronomy 15:10).
God knows us very well. If you please Him, He will please you too! God showed He appreciated what they presented and their attitude in doing it when He rained down blessings upon them, in 1 Sam 2:21 and Luke 17: 19.
Conclusion:
Luke 17: 17 – 19
He, who rewards those that diligently seek Him, appreciates our extra efforts specially. As many that gladly offer thanks to the Lord, out of a heart full of appreciation and joy, He shall do more for you and make you exceedingly satisfied. Amen! Try Him today.
